Rebecca Smith Wins Another Jury Trial
Warnken, LLC attorney Rebecca Smith won a jury trial in Baltimore City on November 27, 2017. Her win was even sweeter because it was on behalf of a law enforcement officer – this time a member of the Baltimore Police Department.
Rebecca’s client was an injured police officer, hurt in September 2015 while working for Baltimore City Police Department. A workers’ compensation claim was filed. The Commission, however, denied the claim, in essence deeming a new injury must have occurred. The injured police officer never waivered in the account, continually reiterating why the original injury was the only injury. When her lawyer who handled the case before the Commission said he could not pursue the appeal, Warnken, LLC and Rebecca Smith stepped up and took the appeal.
The appeal was made to the Circuit Court for Baltimore City.
